You Tube-ism

You Tube-ism
Music is currently the most popular video category on You Tube accounting for a staggering 30.7% of all videos viewed. To put this into context categories and their % viewing figures are detailed below. There are some surprises:
Category - % of all videos viewed
What are you talkin' about?
In North America individuals who added tags to their video uploads were more concerned about news and political videos, with a specific interest in health care, global warming, and US political issues.
And who is watching this video content?
Bloggers aged 20-35 are predictably the most enthusiast bunch when it comes to embedding and linking to videos (57.3%), followed by adults aged 36-60 (21.0%) and then the teenage bloggers, aged 13-19 (20.3%). The silver surfers aged 60+ account for only 1.4% of total embedded videos.
Again, predictably news and politics are the issues most favoured by these more mature bloggers and least perferred by younger bloggers who account for 5% of total links.
Video length and average number of views
From the study and analysis of these 2.5 million unique You Tube videos (July - Dec 2009) and blog posts (that embed or link to to videos) Sysomos found that the average length of a You Tube video is 4 mins and 12 seconds and amazingly the average number of views per video 99,160.
When looking at traditional TV or visual advertising slots, media is usually purchased on a maximum air time length of 40 seconds, therefore, brands are also moving into this area extensively to capture their audiences for longer, delivering entertaining and unique messages and importantly staying ahead of their competitors.
Urban Niche Apps Service
By Dave
Apps are big business and they are here to stay!
Urban Niche have created a number of apps for a number of platforms. We have a great understanding of what needs to be done to ensure success and engagement. We understand that there are a few basic rules to follow in relation to app development: encourage the social media app to go viral by making it easy to interact with; keep it simple - design and graphics can enhance the look and feel of an app but keep the process simple, so its straighforward to use; The brand theme needs to be consistent with other media - there has to be continuity - if users interact on a brands site, they expect the same level of performance with an app; design the app for sharing - make it something interesting or unique, include the ability to personalise and make it their own - if so users will want to share their creations with their friends increasing the viral potential.
If you are interested in developing apps then look no further. Urban Niche can ensure your presence in this area.
Urban Niche Video Services

We now live in a world where you can search on You Tube to find tutorials and instructions on how to complete virtually any task or to receive advice and guidance for any particular issue that requires resolution. In addition, there is a plentiful supply of videos explaining subjects, thoughts, ideas and concepts...if videopedia was a word this would probably sum it up perfectly!
Individuals absorb information in many different ways. Some people love to read and immerse themselves in an abundance of copy, absorbing each and every detail. Others are much more visually orientated and can absorb information when its presented to them in a visual and descriptive format. Urban Niche ensures that your key messages are delivered to your target audiences in a way which gain the greatest impact.
Urban Niche Music Services

We understand the benefits music and/or the association that brands have with music. We know what this can deliver to an audience therefore this is an area which we are looking to increase our presence in due to the vast experience we have in house.
Not only are we developing a unique application which is going to revolutionise the way in which events are promoted we're also getting heavily involved in music production develop tools which will give music producers the ability to upload samples for use in the commercial arena.
So loads coming soon and without sounding cheesy - its worth watching this space!
In the meantime, I thought it would be good to clarify one of the reasons while we feel that this is an area which has opportunities for brands and what better way to do that than with some stats.....
Access to music digitally has had incredible growth of the last few years with the development and popularity of platforms such a itunes, Spotify, Songza, etc...
Some statistics have just been published by Sysomos research showing the demand and video views of music from the social network You Tube.
Music is currently the most popular video category on You Tube - music currently accounts for 30.7% of all videos viewed. This is followed by the entertainment category which is currently commanding 14.6% of video views and people and blog type videos accounting for 10.8%. What makes this even more interesting is that categories such as News and Politics (6.70%) and sport (6.0%) and comedy (5.2%) are very much lagging behind. Music is the universal language and You Tube seem to have proven this fact.

Social Media is all about conversation. The skill is how to utilise those conversations effectively to enhance your brand presence in all social media spaces. From understanding what is being said about your brand and how individuals are interacting with it in these areas, intelligence can be gathered so that all communications can be targetted appropriately, maximising the potential.
Urban Niche have gained immense experience and have a proven track record in developing a brands presence on social networks. Importantly, Urban Niche have started those conversations, engaged users, created loyal fan bases and have build a solid platform whereby brands can communicate key messages to an active and enthused fan base on a daily basis. Responding to these audiences quickly and in a manner which is expected is also key to ensuring the success of a brand on platforms such as Facebook - audiences need to be constantly reassured and reminded why they are 'fans' of a particular brand or product. The communication cannot cease when they are a fan, they need to be gaining something from the experience.
In addition, Urban Niche have developed social networks for brands from the base line. Specific platforms have been designed and built to meet a brands key objectives and requirements. Urban Niche have populated these platforms with interesting and relevant content to engage and enhance the user experience. As the fan base has developed, Urban Niche has been an integral part of keeping the network alive by generating conversations, developing and adding unique content, encouraging participation and interaction. We understand that to manage a social network well time, enthusiam, creativity and moderation is essential.

Facebook Ads

Facebook ads
Online advertising is changing and it’s changing fast. At Urban Niche we recognise that in terms of measurement, online ads are increasingly becoming less about clicks and impressions and much more about engagement, interaction and sharing.
Urban Niche understand how to effectively communicate with audiences in Social media spaces and have run highly successful campaigns on behalf of our clients. We are excited to be developing ads for facebook as there are so many opportunities for brands which in terms of interaction are miles away from traditional online advertising.
Facebook’s engagement ads appear next to a users profile. Previously these ads used to sit there shyly in the corner hoping and begging to be noticed and clicked on. They contained a plain graphic and some text – you might remember them – there were ads for things like Giving a Gift, Watching a video or become a fan. Any actions undertaken by the user would be mentioned in that users news feed effectively making the ads viral. These ads could also be demographically and custom targeted. Also keywords found in the users profile, education, workplaces, relationships and languages would also be used to ensure that advertisers were reaching their audiences.
Facebook have kept these key components, however they have recognised that they needed to raise the bar as brands are looking for additional functionality and engagement with their audiences – additional hooks to deliver messages. Now you can actually watch a video in that space, RSVP to an event, Take a poll etc…
If you look at the example below this demonstrates how ads in these spaces have developed. This is an event request for the finale of the series Grey’s Anatomy. Within this ad space a user can watch the trailer video as it expands as soon as play is activated, the user can RSVP to the event itself which will show in their newsfeed and showing their friends of their intention to attend and will also list in their events in their personal calendars.
Facebook have further developed the concept of engagement with the development of their new ‘Inline Fanning and RSVP ads’. These ads are perfect for advertisers who possibly have a smaller budget and cannot afford to pay Facebook's minimum monthly spend for home page engagement ads.
Again these are little boxed ads, which are displayed on pages following the home page. These ads are purchased on a bidding strategy like a PPC campaign, either on a CPM or CPC basis. If you look at the examples below you will notice that you can click to become a fan or click to RSVP in the ad itself – instant interaction! What will be next?
